A recent survey in the US has revealed that around 10% of US cancer survivors were found to be still smoking an average of 15 cigarettes per day 9 years after diagnoses and treatments.
Researched Showed Patients With Bladder Cancer Were Most Likely To Smoke
The most likely to still smoke were patients who had received treatment for bladder cancer with 17% of these still smoking. Of lung cancer survivors, 15% were found to be still smoking.
The research has indicated that these persistent smokers are more likely to be younger and less educated than those who manage to quit altogether. Experts warn that smoking can cause mutations and secondary cancers which could put sufferers at even more risk second time round.
Follow Up Treatments Needed Claims Tobacco Research Dr.
The director of Tobacco Research at The American Cancer Society, Dr. Lee Westmaas said that in light of the research it was plain that survivors needed more follow-up treatment to support them in stopping smoking and that counselling and medication should be on offer to maximise their success.
It might be confusing for a non-smoker to contemplate this research and the reality which it presents. But the fact is that smoking is so highly addictive that many people find it very, very difficult to stop…even when the evidence of the harm it does is clear to see.
Electronic Cigarettes Can Help
Smoking is a killer…this is no secret but these figures make it plain just how difficult it can be for some people to quit. The rise in electronic cigarettes as an aid to quitting could potentially see some improvement in these statistics…particularly as they have only been growing in popularity for the past five years.
Electronic cigarettes are an excellent way to manage the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and to successfully break the habit….before it breaks you.

Since electronic cigarettes first began to garner attention as they began to rise in popularity, there have been a small number of public accusations regarding their use being an introduction into nicotine use which young people might fall prey to without realising that they weren't a healthy choice.
Gateway Myth Busted
The fact that e cigarettes are an attractive “gadget” for young people who might be attracted by the candy and fruit flavours seems to be at the head of most of these accusations but when we look at the simple facts, it is quite obvious that the worries are unfounded.
- Most younger users of e cigarettes prefer to use tobacco flavoured e liquids…which suggests that they were already smoking cigarettes before turning to e cigarettes. Also, only 2% of younger vapers use fruit or sweet flavoured liquids.
- The numbers of young smokers have been diminishing…not growing…steadily for the past 50 years.
Respected Physician Rubbishes Claims
- Young non-smokers are highly unlikely to invest in a start-up kit with its relatively high price simply to satisfy their curiosity.
Respected physician Michael B Siegel is a professor at Boston’s University’s School of Public Health and he has 25 years of experience in the control of tobacco and he states that there is no evidence to suggest that people who use e cigarettes are more at risk of becoming addicted to smoking traditional cigarettes. His article for The Wall Street Journal debunked the idea that people…especially young people, were at any risk from using e cigarettes and instead maintains that they are an excellent solution for people who are struggling to give up nicotine with enormous potential for the future health of the nation.
When we consider the facts surrounding the Gateway Myth, the figures speak for themselves…more people who successfully

Banned Electronic Cigarette Advert
A poster for E Cigs has caused such outrage in Belfast that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ordered its withdrawal. The poster which was commissioned by the Nicofresh ecigarette company depicted a glamorous older female in a suggestive pose with a young, black male.
The couple are seen to be in a romantic liaison whilst the female holds an e cigarette and the strapline “No Tobacco no Taboo” appears in bold white lettering.
The caption and the image have been lambasted by the public for suggesting that interracial couples are still a taboo subject in addition to being branded ageist.
Company Deny Allegations
The company hit back and said that their poster was suggesting that cigarettes are taboo and that “it could not be denied that relationships between two people of different races or age groups had within living memory been subject to social taboo status.”
They also said that at heart the adverts’ message and meaning was “an entirely positive one”.
ASA Maintain Complaints Are Valid
The ASA however maintains that the complaints it received were reasonable because the implication that an interracial relationship is unacceptable is offensive. In addition to this, the ASA maintained that implying that a relationship between people of differing ages is taboo was also wrong and that both issues could cause serious or widespread offence.
Nicofresh were told that they must ensure their marketing communications did not contain anything likely to cause offence in the future and to take particular care that they avoided causing offence on the grounds of age or race.

Vape bars are the latest big thing with bars springing up across America and the UK. These are nothing like traditional bars where cocktails and beers are on the menu…vape bars offer a vast menu of eliquid flavours as well as a quiet place to sit with other vapers and chat whilst enjoying the wide variety of flavours on offer.
Vape Bars Prove Safe Environment For Vapers To Vape
Vaping is still suffering from being a grey area when it comes to public usage with vapers admitting that they are often unsure whether or not it’s acceptable to vape in a variety of situations both public and private. Vape bars remove that uncertainty and allow vapers to enjoy their electronic cigarettes without fear of being castigated for “smoking” in public.
Many non vapers still don’t understand that vaping does not produce smoke but vapour and are still unsure about the safety aspects of second hand vaping. Because business owners have spotted this, the growth of vape bars is speeding up as more and more savvy entrepreneurs get on the bandwagon.
Regulation however could be looming…at least in the USA as the FDA consider whether or not to regulate “additional tobacco products” in the same way as cigarettes and other traditional smoking products and if regulation happens in the USA perhaps the UK won’t be far behind.
If regulation takes place, then what is the future for vape bars? The medical industry is not backward in coming forwards when it comes to suggesting that vaping is far preferable than smoking and although research is ongoing, the widely held opinion amongst professionals is that vaping is far less harmful than smoking.
If vaping bars don’t get their free spread then what will happen? Will they become like speakeasies of the past…with vapers forced to go underground? Or will the freedom to vape in public be upheld? The jury may still be out on v

Quitting smoking is a huge deal…there’s no point in hiding from how big a deal it really is; if you’re seriously thinking of going on the journey towards being smoke free then the first thing you must do is acknowledge how life changing this battle (and it is a battle) is going to be.
It’s tough to give up…very tough, which is why so many people continue to smoke despite being fully informed of the many health risks associated with it. Tobacco is thought to be more addictive than many class A drugs and those who want to stop will need to take time to fully arm themselves with all of the tools necessary to make their efforts a success.
Here are the top ten tips you will need to ensure that you are victorious in your battle against tobacco!
1: Get your reasons ready:
This sounds obvious right? Everyone know the reasons they should give up smoking but the trick to being a success is to ensure that you really face up to these reasons and keep them right in front of you at all times. Make up a list of reasons to stop smoking, post them in every room of your home. Make sure they’re clearly written or printed and laminate them.
2: Set a date:
Choose a date to quit or to start your gradual withdrawal. Knowing this date is looming may fill you with doubts as it draws closer but also know that your mind is playing tricks on you…only good can come of giving up.
3: Dump the paraphernalia:
Take a rubbish bag and fill it with all smoking related items that you own. Every ashtray, lighter, tobacco tin...throw them away. Wash all of your clothing to ensure that the smell is not lingering on any of your items and start the next day clean and free of the junk associated with smoking.
4: Visualise yourself as a non-smoker:
In quiet moments, as your date draws closer, take

Smoking and children’s fiction is a tricky mixture; with a cigar chomping scarecrow recently appearing in Julia Donaldson’s book The Scarecrow’s Wedding, there has been ongoing debate around the subject with some people insisting that smoking simply has no place in children’s fiction.
Should Smoking Appear In Children's Books?
So what is the right approach when it comes to the most innocent in our society? Is it right to simply pretend that smoking in all its forms doesn’t exist? Or should the subject be introduced just as other tricky issues are?
Looking back at fiction from the past, it’s clear that most skilled authors such as Enid Blyton, used smoking as a clear indicator of a “baddie”. Julian, Dick, George and Ann never mentioned Uncle Quentin having a sneaky ciggie in his study did they? Nope…smoking was always what the crooked antiques dealer did…or the dodgy salesman…it was always painted as a “Bad Thing”.
The Smoker Was Always Portrayed As The Villian
Going back even further it’s evident that smoking was always seen as a somewhat dirty habit and E Nesbitt certainly illustrated that point in her books. Dickens too had smoking pegged as something which belonged to the people from the seedier side of life.
The point is that while children are far from stupid when it comes to sussing out adults and their bad habits, they do need all aspects of life to be tackled in their fiction…both good and bad in order for them to make sense of the world. Children’s fiction has in recent years become far more realistic and has looked at such difficult issues as divorce, disability and mental health; Jacqueline Wilson has tackled all this and more in her hugely popular books and children lap it up. They love to read about good and bad, positive and negative in equal measure and to simply pretend that smoking doesn’t exist is as foolish as it is neglectful.

IMPORTANT: I feel it necessary to quickly point out that Simply E Liquid does not condone or advise you to try and have a heart attack or get yourself pregnant in an attempt to quit smoking. This was written after coming across this quit smoking article that actually advised people to try some of the following quit smoking methods..
Quit Smoking Tips You Probably Haven’t Tried.
Listen I understand, you have been trying to quit smoking for years to no avail. You have tried going cold turkey which practically turned you into something resembling a character from the Walking Dead, not a pretty sight I know. You have also tried the nicotine patches and gum but these only solved half of the problem, yes they may provide the nicotine hit you so desperately require but they lack the actual physical aspect of smoking. Hypnosis turned you into a walking, clucking chicken and when you made a list of reasons to quit you found the pro list heavily outweighed the reasons to quit, great! Basically you are a hopeless individual who has no hope of every quitting, your life will be forever controlled by your need to smoke and there is nothing you can do...or is there? Maybe, just maybe you have a couple or so options left that you would have never thought of before that are dead certain to make you put down that white stick for good. Why has your doctor never told you about these methods before you ask? Maybe it’s a conspiracy, they don’t want you to quit, maybe everyone and everything is controlled by the big tobacco companies?
So what are these quit smoking methods that are guaranteed to make you put down the cigarettes once and for all? Well according to the article mentioned abovethese are some "creative and crazy" ways to help
