Has The Electronic Cigarette Bitten Off More Than It Can Chew?

If the above animation was the result of electronic cigarette vapour then lets be honest I think we would all be in agreement that they should be banned from restaurants - however is this really the case?

There are always going to be people on different sides of the coin when it comes to the electronic cigarette debate. In recent news more restaurants are finding themselves in a bit of a dilemma as some diners are unhappy with vapers using their ecigs at the food table.

There are those that are pro ecigs, those against them and well the worst of the three groups, the ones who have absolutely no knowledge but jump on the bandwagon and start talking nonsense. As I was reading an article on this very same issue today one commenter wrote; “I will never eat in a restaurant that allows electronic cigarette usage as the smoke that they exhale smells nasty and leaves the room all smokey and hazy. Its absurd, we get rid of cigarettes and replace them with these”.

See it is this type of person here that I am talking about, the one that still thinks that the world is flat and that witches exist and should be burnt at the stake. For starters what smoke? I didn't realise that vapers exhaled smoke. For those of you reading this and thinking that I am being a bit pedantic as smoke and vapour can look alike it’s an important point to raise. Smoke from a cigarette and vapour from the heating of the flavoured eliquid are totally different. One is very harmful and contains many harmful chemicals whereas the other does not. Secondly the vapour is odourless and therefore no nasty smell. Finally what’s this about the hazy room? Can you see how such an uneducated comment can do lasting damage to a device that is trying to help reduce the amount of smokers. Vapour from an electronic cigarette dissipates within seconds unlike smoke which can take up to 20 minutes.

The thing is personally I have no problem with eating in a restaurant where people are using electronic cigarettes; however I must say I can understand people who may not like it. There needs to be a comprise with maybe restaurants bringing back the smoking and none smoking sections but this time replacing the smoking area with vapers.

One of the key selling points of an electronic cigarette is that they can be used indoors. If you start to ban them here, there and everywhere then this device will start to lose its appeal resulting in a higher number of smokers.
