Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

What Is E-Liquid?

E-liquid – also known as vape juice – is the main consumable product that you use when vaping. It's responsible for creating the flavours that you taste, and it also supplies nicotine to your body through your lungs. When you exhale the vapour, your e-liquid creates the visible clouds that make vaping look and feel similar to smoking.

The ingredients of vape juice are typically propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, food-grade flavours and nicotine. However, you may occasionally find e-liquids made without some of those ingredients to satisfy various demands. Some people, for example, prefer to use nicotine-free e-cig liquid.

What is in e-liquid?

E-liquid typically contains a mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, flavourings, and nicotine (optional).

Is e-liquid safe?

While e-liquid has not been extensively studied, the limited research available suggests that it is less harmful than traditional tobacco products. However, e-liquids still contain chemicals that may have negative health effects, particularly if they are ingested or applied to the skin.

How do I choose an e-liquid?

When choosing an e-liquid, consider the flavour, nicotine strength, and ingredients. There are a wide variety of flavours available, ranging from fruity and sweet to tobacco and menthol. The nicotine strength can be adjusted to your personal preference, and the ingredients should be listed on the packaging.

Can I make my own e-liquid?

E-liquid should be stored in a cool, dark place, away from children and pets. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use, and avoid exposing the liquid to direct sunlight or high temperatures.

How do I store e-liquid?

Yes, it is possible to make your own e-liquid, but it requires knowledge of the ingredients and their safe handling. You can purchase e-liquid bases, flavourings, and nicotine separately to create your own custom blend.

Is e-liquid regulated in the UK?

Yes, e-liquid is regulated in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). E-liquids must meet certain quality and safety standards to be sold in the UK.

What Are the Different Types of E-Liquid?

There are two types of e-liquid, and the two types are classified according to the kind of nicotine that they use. Most of the vape juice on the market uses freebase nicotine. More recently, though, another type called nicotine salt e-liquid has been developed and has increased rapidly in popularity.

The biggest difference between freebase nicotine vape juice and nic salt e-liquid is in the nicotine strengths of both types of e-liquids. While it is possible for any type of e-liquid to have any nicotine strength, the most common strengths for freebase nicotine e-liquid are 3 mg/ml and 6 mg/ml. Nic salts, on the other hand, usually come in nicotine strengths between 10-20 mg/ml. Given the wide variance in nicotine strengths, it’s obviously very important to choose the right type of e-liquid for your needs and for your vaping equipment.

Who Should Buy Freebase E-Liquid?

If you’re buying e-liquid to use in a vape mod or other device designed for direct-to-lung inhaling, you should buy freebase nicotine vape juice. We suggest starting with the 3 mg/ml nicotine strength and increasing the strength only if you’re completely certain that you aren’t getting enough nicotine. Today’s direct-to-lung vaping devices produce so much vapour that, for most people, the higher 6 mg/ml nicotine strength would be overpowering and unpleasant.

You can also find freebase nicotine e-liquid in nicotine strengths higher than 6 mg/ml, although those nicotine strengths aren’t as common as they used to be because nicotine salt e-liquid has become the most popular choice among those who use higher-nicotine e-liquids.

What Are the Best E-Liquid Flavours to Buy?

If you’re still a smoker and haven’t make the switch to vaping yet, you probably think that you enjoy the flavour of tobacco. Even the world’s greatest cigarette, however, can never taste like anything other than a cigarette – and that’s one of the most important things separating vaping from smoking. E-liquid can taste like almost anything you can imagine because its flavour comes from the same natural and artificial flavourings used by the makers of foods, beverages, snacks and candies.

There are hundreds of different vape juice flavours in the world today, and it’s impossible to recommend just one for every person because taste is subjective. Many people who vape prefer e-liquids that resemble cigarettes as closely as possible. Those people typically prefer tobacco and menthol e-liquids. These days, though, it’s far more common for people to buy sweeter e-liquids with candy, fruit and dessert flavours. If you’re buying vape juice for the first time, we suggest selecting a small assortment. That way, you’re certain to find a flavour you’ll enjoy and will have a better idea of what you should buy when you shop for e-liquid again.

What Is Shortfill E-Liquid?

All e-liquid sold in the United Kingdom must comply with the restrictions set forth in the Tobacco Products Directive. The TPD is the primary law that regulates the vaping industry in the UK and in the European Union, and it includes two limitations by which all e-liquid makers must abide. The maximum legal nicotine strength for TPD-compliant e-liquids is 20 mg/ml, and the maximum bottle size for any e-liquid containing nicotine is 10 ml.

The bottle size limitation imposed by the TPD isn’t a problem for people who use higher-nicotine e-liquids. For people who use sub-ohm vaping devices, though, it’s not uncommon to use more than 10 ml of vape juice in a single day – and that’s why short fills exist. Shortfill e-liquid is nicotine-free e-liquid sold in larger bottles that aren’t completely full. Flavourless e-liquid with nicotine is sold separately in the form of 10 ml “nic shots.” Since the shortfill e-liquid bottle contains no nicotine, it can be larger without violating the restrictions of the TPD.

To use shortfill e-liquid, you’ll open the bottle and add the nicotine. Use one nicotine shot for a 60 ml shortfill bottle or two nicotine shots for a 120 ml bottle. Close the bottle and shake it well before filling your tank with the e-liquid.
