The Voopoo brand has earned great fame throughout the vaping community, and the brand has earned that fame by constantly breaking new technological ground. Chief among Voopoo’s technical innovations is the GENE chipset, which eliminates lengthy coil ramp-up times and can make almost any coil fire instantly. Today, every Voopoo vaping device has some variation of the GENE chipset installed, and the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro have brought the company’s famed technology to the world of pod vaping systems.
This article is your quick-start guide for the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro. In this instruction manual, we’ll describe the basic steps that will help you get up and running with the Argus or Argus Pro in a matter of minutes. We’ll also provide some simple, actionable steps that you can use to troubleshoot the most common problems that might occur with the Argus or Argus Pro.
What’s Special About the Voopoo Argus Series?
In addition to the technical underpinnings that all Voopoo devices share, the thing that makes the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro special is the fact that they truly support both the mouth-to-lung and direct-to-lung inhaling styles. Many pod-based systems are sold with the claim that they support any inhaling style, but that’s often just lip service. The Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro go a step further because they both include two pods – one for each inhaling style. These are truly devices that can grow with you as your vaping preferences change.
The other feature that makes the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro special is the fact that they are some of the first vaping devices to offer true luxury trim options. Depending on the colour you select, your Argus device will be finished with leather, denim or carbon fibre. The trim options are unique in the vaping industry. They enhance the hand feel of the device, and they also look spectacular.
Voopoo Argus vs. Argus Pro
While the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro are both extremely affordable, you’ve no doubt noticed that there is a significant price difference between the two. Should you opt for the more expensive device? How do the Voopoo Argus vs. Argus Pro compare?
- The Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro both work with Voopoo PNP coils. Voopoo recommends a minimum coil resistance of 0.3 ohm for the standard Argus, though, while the Argus Pro supports coil resistances as low at 0.15 ohm.
- The Voopoo Argus has a maximum operational power of 40 watts, and the Argus Pro has a maximum power of 80 watts.
- The Voopoo Argus Pro has double the battery capacity – 3,000 mAh compared to a capacity of 1,500 mAh for the original Argus.
- Both devices charge via USB-C, but the Argus Pro uses a 2-amp charging current, and the original Argus uses a 1-amp current. The Argus Pro, therefore, requires about the same amount of time to charge despite having double the battery capacity.
- The Voopoo Argus Pro is slightly larger and heavier than the standard Argus.
How to Use the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro
The Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro have several features in common, which is a great thing if you’re upgrading from the standard Argus to the Argus Pro; you’ll already know how to use your new device. If you’re about to own a Voopoo Argus device for the first time, though, you’re going to love this instruction manual because our quick-start guide will take you through the most important details to get you up and running quickly.
How to Charge the Voopoo Argus
The Voopoo Argus has a built-in USB-C charging port. To charge the device, connect one end of the included USB-C charging cable to the device, and connect the other end to one of your computer’s USB ports. The device’s display will tell you when charging is complete.
How to Fill the Voopoo Argus Pod
The Voopoo Argus pod fills from the bottom. To fill the pod, remove it from the device and turn it upside down. Remove the silicone plug on the bottom of the pod. Fill the pod and replace the plug.
How to Replace the Voopoo Argus Coil
When you filled your Voopoo Argus pod for the first time, you probably noticed the metal object in the centre of the pod. That’s the atomizer coil. When you’re no longer happy with the flavour that you get from your Voopoo Argus, it’s time to replace the coil. Wait until the pod is nearly empty before removing it from the device and pulling the old coil straight out of the bottom of the pod. Push in the new coil and refill the pod. Give the coil several minutes to absorb the e-liquid in the pod before you start vaping.
How to Vape With the Voopoo Argus
One of the greatest things about the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro is that they’re as simple or as flexible as you want them to be. The device has the ability, for instance, to automatically recognise the connected atomizer coil and suggest an appropriate operational wattage for that coil. Alternatively, you can also enable your device’s manual mode and select your own wattage.
To vape with the Voopoo Argus, hold the fire button while puffing. If you wish, you can also set the device to activate automatically when you puff. To do that, press the fire button three times quickly to open the menu. Use the “+” and “-“ buttons to select “A” mode (Argus) or “A&P” mode (Argus Pro). Press and hold the fire button to confirm your selection.
How to Fix Problems With the Voopoo Argus and Argus Pro
Most of the time, you can expect your Voopoo Argus or Argus Pro to operate without ever giving you any problems at all. You’re bound to experience an occasional issue with any vaping device from time to time, though, and that’s where this section of our Voopoo Argus manual comes in. If you have a problem with your Voopoo Argus, we’ll provide some actionable advice that will get you back up and running quickly.
Voopoo Argus Not Charging
If your Voopoo Argus isn’t charging, the first thing you should do is try a different USB-C cable because it’s very common for USB cables to stop delivering power reliably as they get older. If your device still isn’t charging, try charging it with a different computer or different USB port. Don’t attempt to charge the Voopoo Argus or any other vaping device with a wall adapter for a tablet or mobile phone.
Voopoo Argus Not Hitting
If nothing happens when you try to vape with the Voopoo Argus, the first thing you should do is attempt to unlock the device by pressing the fire button five times quickly. If the device still isn’t working – and you’re certain that the battery is fully charged – you should check the screen for an error message that will help you determine what’s going on.
These are the error messages that you might see with the Voopoo Argus along with their solutions.
- Check Atomizer: The Voopoo Argus isn’t detecting the atomizer coil. Reseat the coil and pod and try again.
- Atomizer Short or Low Resistance: The connected atomizer coil has a short circuit, or its resistance is too low for use with the Voopoo Argus. Connect a different atomizer coil.
- Check Battery or Low Power: The battery has insufficient voltage remaining for the connected atomizer coil and selected power setting. Recharge the device.
- Temp High: The Voopoo Argus has overheated. Take it out of direct sunlight and give it some time to cool down.
Voopoo Argus Gurgling
If your Voopoo Argus gurgles during use, you’re inhaling with too much air pressure and are overwhelming the pod’s ability to manage airflow. The excess air pressure is drawing e-liquid into the pod’s atomizer coil assembly and flooding the coil. The e-liquid begins to flow up the pod’s centre air chimney, causing the gurgling sound. If you want to allow more air to flow through the pod, you should open the pod’s airflow fully. If you’re still not having a satisfying experience, you should switch to the direct-to-lung pod.
Voopoo Argus Leaking
If your Voopoo Argus leaks, the most likely reason is that you’re puffing too firmly on the device. In addition to gurgling, puffing too firmly can also cause leaking because the excess e-liquid that floods the device’s atomizer coil then begins to leak out of the pod’s intake vents.
When you fill the Voopoo Argus pod, it’s important to leave a little room for air at the top of the pod. Otherwise, the silicone plug will push e-liquid out when you replace it after filling the pod.
If your Voopoo Argus pod is gurgling or leaking, you should remove the excess e-liquid before refilling the pod to ensure that the problem doesn’t repeat itself. When the pod is empty, remove it from the Argus. Hold a paper towel over the bottom of the pod and blow hard through the pod’s mouthpiece to clear the e-liquid out of the centre air channel.
