What Coils Work With the Innokin Sceptre?

The Innokin Sceptre works with two different coils. The kit comes with both coils, giving you an opportunity to try both and choose your favourite.

  • The 2-ohm MTL coil works at 9 or 10 watts and is designed for mouth-to-lung inhaling with higher-nicotine e-liquids.
  • The 5-ohm mesh RDL coil works at 18 or 20 watts and is designed to deliver a restricted direct-to-lung hit with lower-nicotine e-liquids.

Both coils feature Innokin’s proprietary new wick that blends cotton with natural seaweed fibre to deliver excellent liquid retention and flavour reproduction.

Innokin Sceptre vs. Endura M18

If you’ve looked at Innokin’s full range of pod-based vaping devices, you’ve probably noticed that the Sceptre bears a certain visual similarity to the Innokin Endura M18. The two devices are also similar in price. So, how do the Innokin Sceptre vs. Endura M18 compare?

The primary difference between the two is that the Innokin Endura M18 has a smaller atomizer coil and is designed primarily for mouth-to-lung vaping. While it does have adjustable airflow, it has only two available settings. You can toggle between the settings by reversing the installation of the pod. The Innokin Sceptre, meanwhile, has a dial that allows for more precise airflow adjustments. The Sceptre also has a mesh coil available for greater vapour production, while the Endura M18 doesn’t have that option.

How to Use the Innokin Sceptre

Now that you understand the capabilities of the Innokin Sceptre, it’s time to learn how to use the device. With this quick-start guide, we’ll have you up and running with the Sceptre in a matter of minutes.

How to Charge the Innokin Sceptre

To charge the Innokin Sceptre, connect it to your computer using the included USB cable. During charging, the Sceptre’s LED indicator illuminates red until the battery reaches 90-percent capacity. At that time, the LED changes to green. The light turns off when charging is complete.

How to Fill the Innokin Sceptre Pod

To fill the Innokin Sceptre pod, lift the pod up to remove it from the device. You’ll find the silicone filling plug on the side of the pod. Remove the plug and add e-liquid through the filling hole until the pod is almost full. Replace the plug and put the pod back into the device. When you fill the pod for the first time or refill the pod after replacing the coil, Innokin suggests that you give the coil at least five minutes to prime itself before you begin vaping.

How to Replace the Innokin Sceptre Coil

As you use the Innokin Sceptre, you’re going to find that the flavour changes over time. Usually, you’ll find that you can use an atomizer coil for several days before it requires replacement – and when you’re no longer happy with the flavour you get when vaping, it’s time for a new coil.

When your pod is empty, remove it from the Innokin Sceptre and hold it with the mouthpiece facing down. Twist the pod’s base counterclockwise and remove it from the pod. You’ll find the atomizer coil attached to the base. Unscrew the current coil and screw in a new one. Make sure that the coil is connected tightly to the pod’s base. Reattach the pod’s base and refill the pod. Place the pod back into the Innokin Sceptre and wait five minutes before vaping.

The Innokin Sceptre pod has a built-in dial that allows you to adjust the pod’s airflow. If you’re using the 1.2-ohm coil, you should turn the dial to the left. If you’re using the 0.5-ohm coil, turn the dial to the right to increase the airflow.

How to Vape With the Innokin Sceptre

You can vape with the Innokin Sceptre by holding the fire button or by simply puffing on the device. In addition to the basic vaping function, you can also adjust the wattage of the Innokin Sceptre to suit your preferences for vapour warmth and flavour intensity. To change the wattage, press the fire button three times quickly to turn the device off. Next, hold the power button. The LED cycles between green and red. Release the button to confirm your selection, and then turn the device back on to resume vaping.

  • Green: 9 watts with the 1.2-ohm coil, 18 watts with the 0.5-ohm coil
  • Red: 10 watts with the 1.2-ohm coil, 20 watts with the 0.5-ohm coil

How to Fix Problems With the Innokin Sceptre

The Innokin Sceptre is a pod system with a simple and reliable design. You shouldn’t experience problems when using it – but if you do, we’re here to help. In this section of our Innokin Sceptre instruction manual, we’ll show you how to resolve the most common issues that you might encounter when using this device.

Innokin Sceptre Not Charging

The Innokin Sceptre requires a 5-volt, 1-amp charging current. Some wall adapters – particularly those used for charging smartphones and tablets – deliver higher “quick-charge” currents that aren’t appropriate for the Innokin Sceptre or most other vaping devices. If your Innokin Sceptre isn’t charging, make sure that you’ve connected it to an appropriate mains adapter or to your computer. If the device still isn’t charging, try a different USB cable.

Innokin Sceptre Not Vaping

If your Innokin Sceptre isn’t hitting when you puff on it or hold the fire button, first make sure that the device is fully charged and that it’s turned on. To turn the Innokin Sceptre on or off, press the fire button three times quickly.

If the device still isn’t vaping, the next thing that you need to check is the pod. First remove the pod from the device and look under it. Is there excess moisture in the top chamber of your Innokin Sceptre? Remove the moisture with a cotton swab. Wipe any moisture from the bottom of the pod and try again.

If you’re still having trouble getting your Innokin Sceptre to work, the next thing that you should do is try removing and reseating the atomizer coil. The most common reason why an Innokin Sceptre doesn’t vape is because the atomizer coil is only partially screwed in. If you’re still having trouble and are certain that the atomizer coil is firmly seated, you should replace the coil.

Innokin Sceptre Gurgling

If your Innokin Sceptre is gurgling, the most likely reason is that you’re using too much air pressure when vaping with the device. That’s particularly likely to happen if you’re using the 1.2-ohm mouth-to-lung coil and have the airflow dial turned to the MTL setting. If you puff harder in an attempt to get bigger clouds out of the device, you’ll overwhelm the pod’s capacity to manage airflow and will draw excess e-liquid into the atomizer coil assembly and chimney. The e-liquid caught in the pod’s chimney creates a gurgling sound and may even enter your mouth if you continue puffing too firmly. Always puff gently when using the Innokin Sceptre. If you’re not happy with the device’s vapour production, you can increase the wattage, increase the airflow or switch to the 0.5-ohm coil.

Innokin Sceptre Leaking

One of the ways in which the Innokin Sceptre differs from some other pod-based systems is in the fact that you need to disassemble the pod by removing its base when you want to install a new atomizer coil. The fact that the base screws tight means that the Innokin Sceptre doesn’t have a hole on the bottom and should therefore be more resistant to leaking than other pod systems – but that’s only true if the pod is assembled correctly. If the pod’s base is cross-threaded or isn’t screwed down tightly, the pod may leak – and if the atomizer coil isn’t installed properly, screwing the base down tightly may be impossible. If your Innokin Sceptre leaks, you should fully disassemble and reassemble the pod, making sure that the components aren’t cross-threaded and are screwed in fully.
